After three days of rest, the team will reconvene at Castel Volturno on Sunday afternoon to begin preparations for the match against Genoa, scheduled for August 22nd at 8:45 PM. Coach Max Allegri granted his players some time off following the double training camp in Dimaro and Castel di Sangro. The ‘dismissal’ came after the game against Aris Salonicco, with most of the squad having departed Abruzzo.
Yesterday, however, three players continued individual training sessions on the pitch at Patini. As reported by Corriere dello Sport, these players are David Neres, Sam Beukema, and Cyril Ngonge, all of whom are behind their teammates in terms of fitness. The Brazilian has not been available for any of the friendly matches played by the Azzurri; the winger is undergoing recovery following regenerative therapy on his left knee, and his condition is being closely monitored.
“The medical staff will continue to carefully evaluate his condition until they deem his response stable and adequate, also considering a correct tolerance of workloads,” writes Corriere dello Sport, indicating he might be unavailable only for the season opener against Genoa.
The situation for Beukema is different, as he is battling a chronic bilateral Achilles tendon condition. Since the Dimaro training camp, he has been following a personalized program and has not participated in any friendly matches. It is possible he could be back in contention for the second league match against Como.
Ngonge, on the other hand, only began his preparation with his teammates on August 5th, but the Belgian is reportedly on his way out, with Napoli actively seeking a buyer.
